Ideas for a solo artist:
My final ideas: Name of artist: Target Audience: 14-18 years olds Genre of music: Pop/Dance Type of Video: Blend Video I want to incorporate a simple narrative as well as some aspects of performance. For my teaser/potential music video, I want to use the track Give me a Chance by the artist Lay Zhang. The song has a relatively slow beat and can easily be made into a narrative since the lyrics are quite generic ( 'I'm over and through, for you' ). The slow beat will allow me to easily add effects such as light effects as well as glitches, as in the two inspiration videos above. Below are the original music video and teaser for the song I'm using however, I think I want to make my teaser and potential music video different. For example, I don't want to use a black and white filter over the video. Also, the video is a performance video as it comprises of the artist singing as well as dancing to his song alongside backup dancers whereas, I want my video to consist of a narrative.
Ideas for my teaser: 30 seconds, will use a variety of shots, will have a narrative For the teaser, I am using mostly audio but towards the end i will include the chorus of the song to interest the viewer and give them sort sort of hint about the actual song. In my video, I am using a female actor however the song I am using is by a male but I am hoping it makes sense as the girl will embody the words which are being said in the song. The actor will tell the story through her actions.
I used Khalid's website as inspiration. I loved the colours on his page and looking at the clips for my teaser, I will changed the dark theme of my website to make it lighter, pastel and more relevant to pop music. Also, i think the way his merch is displayed on the 'STORE' page is very convenient and quite pleasing to the eye with a CD, Vinyl and digital album displayed together. The colours on his website compliment each other. I also used the drop down menu of the BTS website as inspiration. For example, I think using the noun discography brings a professional aspect to my website as the word is relevant to the music industry. As well as this, I used the concept of a trilogy for my albums. I got this idea from BTS' Love Yourself trilogy which tells a continued story in each album and by the end of it, the listener has an entire journey that they're brought on through the music. If I feel that it makes my website look better and if I have any good ideas, I want to add a tracklist to the page with my artists upcoming album.
